Marking(s), 2012

Collaboration with Lindsay Tully
Installation View, 4 channel HD video installation

Through displacement of an external environment, Marking(s) re-creates a space within the walls of the gallery that brings the outside in. Using ideas of territory and instincts, our mark is left within that space as the figure moves through the frames leaving a residual footprint of where she once was. This “mark” is mimicked through sound, image and time as the environment takes over the surrounding walls. As the figure disappears, the viewer is reflected into the scene, marking themselves as both subject and audience. A territory is defined within the landscape, while a gesture of presence and absence is articulated through the appearance and disappearance of both figure and sound throughout the space.

Performance documentation, 14:50
(excerpt)

Contact, 2 was a performance piece that resulted in a residual installation. I threw red darts at a wall of white balloons until each balloon was popped.
